Viet Voyage Grand Prairie Review: Vietnamese Buffet, BBQ & Desserts

By · My firsthand restaurant visit

I drove about four hours each way to try Viet Voyage in Grand Prairie. Yes, y’all, an eight-hour round trip for a buffet! I wanted to see what this Vietnamese buffet near Dallas had to offer. There was a lot to try, and the dessert selection alone had me excited.

By Hong the Foodie · Based on my video published August 1, 2026. This restaurant is in Grand Prairie, outside the Houston area.

Was Viet Voyage worth the trip?

I thought the buffet was worth what I paid for its variety, especially the desserts. My standouts were the barbecue ribs, pork skewers, winter melon juice and flaky custard-topped pastry. Not every seafood dish was a favorite. This visit was in Grand Prairie, near Dallas—not Houston.

What I tried at Viet Voyage buffet

Steak with Brussels sprouts

Thomas ordered the steak included with the buffet. I usually prefer rare steak, so I wasn’t sure about the medium preparation, but it was softer and more flavorful than I expected. I really liked the crunch of the Brussels sprouts—maybe even more than the steak.

Pork skewers and barbecue ribs

The pork skewer had a good balance of fat and meat and plenty of flavor. The thin-cut ribs from the seafood and barbecue station were another highlight. They were packed with flavor, and I said I’d order them at a restaurant on their own.

Grilled oysters and other seafood

I loved the scallion oil on the oysters, though the oysters themselves were a little overcooked for my preference. The crawfish was okay to me, but not a standout. I didn’t care for the mussel I tried. The crab had a sweet-and-salty flavor I enjoyed.

Beef phở, rice rolls and soup

The beef phở came in a small bowl that was packed with noodles and meat. The broth tasted different from what I expected; it wasn’t bad, just different. I added my usual toppings, hoisin and Sriracha.

I liked how thin the rice rolls were, along with the fish sauce, but wished the filling had the dried shiitake mushrooms I enjoy. The asparagus crab soup needed extra seasoning for my taste.

Drinks and desserts

The cold, sweet winter melon juice was a favorite. The dessert selection was huge and included treats that reminded me of my childhood. I tried the pandan rice crispy treat but couldn’t really taste the pandan. My favorite was a flaky pastry with a thin, sweet custard layer. I wasn’t sure of its name, but I wanted some to go.

Viet Voyage buffet price from my visit

My video description lists $27.95 per person for the visit. I rounded that to $27 while talking at the end of the video. This is the price recorded in my August 2026 video, not a live menu quote. Prices vary by day, so confirm the current buffet price before going.

What would I get again?

The barbecue ribs, pork skewers, winter melon juice and that flaky custard-topped pastry stood out to me. Not every dish was my favorite, but I thought the buffet was worth what I paid for the variety, especially the desserts.
