The Pit Room Houston: A Huge Beef Rib & Brisket That Melted in My Mouth
Before leaving for Japan, I stopped at The Pit Room for one more Texas barbecue meal. Two viewers had recommended the beef ribs and brisket, so that’s what I ordered. The beef rib was enormous—and yes, it was a splurge.
What I ordered
Beef rib
The rib had a rich balance of fat and meat. Inside, it was soft and fatty; outside, the bark had a firmer, almost jerky-like texture packed with smoky flavor. That contrast made each bite so good.
It was also much more food than I could finish in one sitting. I was glad I had a to-go box waiting at the end.
Brisket
The brisket looked moist before I even tried it, and it was even more tender than the beef rib. It took almost no effort to eat. The soft meat and fat together were exactly what I wanted from a Texas barbecue lunch.
Pickles, onions and bread
I had pickles, white onions, pickled onions and bread with the meat. The pickles were extra vinegary, which I liked, and the white onions weren’t too strong. Those sharp, crunchy bites went nicely with the rich barbecue.
How much was it?
- Beef rib: $36.80
- My order of brisket, beef rib and one drink: $50.61 total
Those were the amounts quoted for my order in the September 2024 video. The rib price was for that particular serving; check current prices before ordering.
What would I order again?
The brisket and beef rib were both delicious. If I had to pick the bite that stood out most, it would be the brisket for how incredibly moist and tender it was. I’d keep the pickles and onions close by, too.
