Baguettea Houston Review: Grilled Pork & Crispy Pork Belly Bánh Mì

By · My firsthand restaurant visit

I’d heard so many good things about Baguettea that I had to try it. I honestly came in with low expectations, but that BREAD changed my mind fast. By the end of the visit, I was calling this my favorite bánh mì place.

What I ordered

We ordered a grilled pork sandwich, a pork belly sandwich, and passion fruit tea with passion fruit jelly.

Grilled pork bánh mì

Grilled pork is usually my go-to, so I started there. The baguette was big, with a crackly outside and a soft, airy middle. It had that crunch without hurting the roof of my mouth. They didn’t skimp on the filling, either.

I loved the seasoning on the pork, the generous butter and the pickled vegetables. Everything came together so well. If I had to nitpick, I would say I wish the grilled pork was a little more grilled and charred. The bread was a huge part of why this sandwich stood out—I gave the bread a 10/10 in the video.

Pork belly bánh mì

Thomas told me to try the pork belly, and I’m glad I did. The crunchy skin, fat and meat made such a good combination. The seasoning had a nice saltiness without being overwhelming. I loved this one.

Their menu says the pork belly bánh mì is only available on Saturday and Sunday.

How much was it?

  • Grilled pork bánh mì: $8.31
  • Crispy pork belly bánh mì: $9.25

Prices may change, so check the current menu before ordering.

What would I order again?

The crispy pork belly sandwich! I wasn’t expecting to like it so much, but I LOVED it.
