My’s Baguettes: My Favorite Bò Né in Houston
My’s Baguettes may be a sandwich spot, but I came for the bò né. I brought my friend Nicole along for filet mignon, a sunny-side-up egg, a meatball, onions and a baguette—and this was one of those meals I couldn’t stop talking about.
I’ve had this dish in Vietnam too, and My’s Baguettes was still my favorite place to get it. That tender steak and garlicky butter had me so happy.
From my video published October 26, 2023.
What I ordered
Number 20: Filet mignon with meatball
The filet was incredibly tender. I joked that the cow must have had a massage every day, because that was how soft it was! The meatball was soft too, with a little sweetness.
The onions added crunch and sweetness, and the cilantro brought a nice earthy flavor. The egg still had a runny yolk, so combining everything gave me that sweet-and-savory bite I loved. The skillet kept the food hot while we ate.
The baguette, house butter and pâté
I broke off little pieces of baguette, spread on the butter and added some steak, onions, cilantro, meatball and egg. There was sauce left on the platter that was delicious for dipping the bread too.
The house butter was light and garlicky. I like it so much that every now and then I’d buy a tub to take home and use for my own sandwiches. The platter also came with pâté.
If I had one complaint, it was that the baguette had more dough inside than I prefer. The outside was still crisp, but a less doughy center would have made the whole meal even better. I called the platter itself a 10/10.
The side salad
The salad had romaine, cucumber, tomato and cilantro with a light, vinegary dressing. It was refreshing alongside the rich skillet.
How much was it?
The bò né platter was featured at $16 in my October 2023 video. Check the current menu for prices.
What would I get again?
Number 20! The tender filet, egg, onions and meatball were exactly what I came for. And I would absolutely want that house butter again. The bread wasn’t quite perfect for me, but the food on that skillet made up for it.
