Takumi Buffet in Humble: The Baked Mussels Were the Highlight
A glowing review of Takumi’s baked mussels got my attention. With a weekend buffet priced at $19.98 during my visit, including oysters and snow crab, I wanted to see what was worth filling my plate with.
From my video published June 9, 2026.
What I tried
Baked mussels
These lived up to the excitement. The topping was extra creamy, and it worked so well with the mussels. Don’t let the generous topping scare you away! I liked them enough to go back when a fresh tray came out.
Crawfish, oysters and snow crab
The crawfish were very salty. I described them as frozen crawfish: something I could eat when craving crawfish on a budget, but the salt really stood out.
The oysters looked big and juicy, but I didn’t enjoy their texture. They tasted chalky and unusually thick to me, so I moved on. The snow crab was much better.
Chicken, noodles and fried rice
I liked the sweet, sticky glaze on the General Tso’s chicken. I also tried hibachi chicken with rice noodles and a plate of other hot dishes. Of the lo mein, rice noodles and fried rice, the lo mein was my favorite.
California roll and squid salad
The California roll was a basic crab-stick roll, with rice that wasn’t mushy or overly vinegary. The squid salad was one of my favorite things here. Adding lemon gave it a bright, zesty flavor, and I went back for more.
Soup and fruit to finish
I finished with hot and sour soup, a dumpling, more squid salad and crawfish, then fruit. The soup was piping hot and delivered both the sourness and heat its name promises. Cold, crisp, sweet fruit was a lovely way to end the meal, and I was excited to see cherries on the buffet.
How much was it?
- Saturday and Sunday buffet: $19.98 per person during my visit.
- Oysters and snow crab were included on weekends at that time.

What would I get again?
The baked mussels and squid salad would be my first stops. I’d choose lo mein from the noodle and rice options. Overall, I thought it was a good deal for about $20, with especially kind staff and a clean dining room. The oysters were the main miss for me.
