Champ Burger Houston: A Big, Old-Fashioned Burger That Hit the Spot
Sometimes I just want a good traditional burger, and Champ Burger delivered exactly that. I called ahead, picked up my food and found a place to park before taking my first bite. Even after that extra drive, the bun still had some crispness to it.
What I ordered
Classic burger with jalapeños
I got the classic burger and added jalapeños. It came with mayonnaise, mustard, lettuce, pickles, onions and tomato. I took the tomato off because that’s just my preference.
This was a big burger. The vegetables tasted fresh, the pickles added acidity, and the onions gave it crunch and a little sweetness. Put it all together, and it was such a solid old-fashioned burger. I kept looking at it between bites because it was that good.
A taco stop later that day
A few hours later, I stopped at Los Tacos Gerardo for two pork tacos and two fajita tacos. The pork had good seasoning, and a squeeze of lime gave it a nice tang. I liked the fresh-tasting green salsa, too.
There was so much meat that I was glad each taco had two tortillas. They brought the food to my car when it was ready, which made it an easy stop.
How much was it?
- Classic Champ Burger: $7.09 before any jalapeño add-on.
That is the base burger price on Champ Burger’s published menu, checked September 23, 2026. I added jalapeños during my visit; their separate add-on price is not listed. I can’t remember how much the tacos were, but I don’t think they were pricey. If I had to guess, I’d say roughly $1–2 each.
What would I order again?
The classic burger with jalapeños would be my order again, and next time I’d just ask for no tomato. If you’re craving a big, straightforward burger, this is one I really enjoyed. The pork tacos and green salsa from the later stop were good, too.
