Rim Tanon Houston: The Shrimp Pad See Ew I’d Go Back For

By · My firsthand restaurant visit

Thomas found Rim Tanon online, and the food looked good enough to get us over there. I love Thai food and spice, but I didn’t walk in with huge expectations. I walked out calling this my new favorite Thai restaurant.

From my visit video published March 22, 2026.

What we ordered

Papaya salad, Thai spicy

The salad came with carrots, green beans, cucumber and cabbage. I felt the heat on the first bite! It was flavorful and very saucy, with plenty of that fish-sauce flavor I enjoy. Even the last few bites were good after soaking up the dressing.

Pad see ew with shrimp

This was my favorite. The noodles had the chewy, almost al dente texture I love, and the seasoning was on point. I couldn’t stop talking about them.

The shrimp were cooked perfectly. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but they were a 10/10. Shrimp can easily go wrong, but these were exactly what I wanted. I finished my plate and still felt like I could eat another portion just because it tasted so good.

Tiger Cry steak

Thomas ordered Tiger Cry, a beef dish with rice, and cut me a piece to try. It tasted even better than it looked. The steak was another good bite in a meal that left me very satisfied.

How much was it?

  • Tiger Cry: $23
  • Papaya salad: $12
  • Pad see ew: $16, plus an additional $2 for shrimp

Prices may change, so check the current menu before ordering.

What would I order again?

The shrimp pad see ew, without a doubt. I said I’d come back when I’m nearby—even just to pick up a to-go order of those noodles. The papaya salad was a great way to start, too.

Restaurant details

Restaurant: Rim Tanon
Address: 2241 Richmond Ave., Houston, TX 77098
Food: Thai
On my visit: A small, cozy restaurant with a patio and food that came out quickly.

Parking was tight, and the one-way lot made circling back awkward when a space wasn’t available. Give yourself a little extra time. I still thought the food was worth it.
