Aga’s Houston: The Goat Chops Were My Favorite

By · My firsthand restaurant visit

This meal at Aga’s was a big moment in discovering how much I enjoy Indian and Pakistani food. I was excited and a little nervous, then found myself loving bite after bite—from the little salad at the beginning to the goat chops I couldn’t put down.

From my video published August 3, 2025.

What I ordered

Chicken lollipops

The chicken had a nice spicy kick and juicy meat. I tried it with the sweet, tamarind-like dipping sauce and liked it both with and without. I went back for another piece because it was that good.

Garlic naan

I could smell the garlic immediately. The bread felt light in my hands, and I loved the fresh herb flavor from the cilantro. It was a delicious companion to the curry.

The waiter’s recommended goat curry

I hadn’t planned to order this, but asked the waiter for his favorite dish and followed his recommendation. I couldn’t remember the exact menu name. The goat was soft and easy to chew, almost like braised beef, with deep flavor and a little acidity. Adding jalapeño gave another bite a nice crunch.

Grilled goat chops

This was my number-one dish. My order came with five chops over onions. The seasoning was wonderful, with a little heat that wasn’t too much for me. I ended up picking them up and eating right off the bone. Once I noticed the grilled onions underneath, the combination got even better.

Salad and dessert

The cucumber and carrot starter came with a seasoning powder and yogurt-based sauce. I enjoyed the tang and cumin-like flavor of the seasoning.

The warm, doughnut-like dessert at the end was a little too sweet and soft for my taste. The savory dishes were the highlight.

How much was it?

  • Chicken lollipops: $15.99
  • Garlic naan: $2.99

The current menu lists Aga’s Chops (5 pieces) at $27.99, but describes them as lamb chops. I had goat chops during my visit.

Current online menu prices checked September 23, 2026; dine-in prices may differ. The exact goat curry and dessert I ordered aren’t confirmed, so I didn’t assign those prices. View Aga’s menu.

What would I order again?

Honestly, everything but the garlic naan and dessert. The naan was good, but it didn’t blow my socks off. I didn’t care for the dessert, so I wouldn’t get that again either. Everything else was phenomenal.
