Tree Garden Houston: Bibimbap Was the Surprise Favorite
We went to Tree Garden looking for a hearty bowl of army soup, but the beef-tartare bibimbap ended up being my favorite. The restaurant felt peaceful, with greenery and a spacious dining area with lots of tables with doors for privacy.
What we ordered
Army soup
The broth was rich and thick—exactly the kind of comforting soup I wanted. Our pot had noodles, kimchi, tofu, vegetables and assorted meats. I enjoyed eating the noodles and rice cakes with that broth.
Seafood pancake
I wasn’t prepared for how big this pancake would be. It looked like a medium pizza! It came with seafood and onions, plus a dipping sauce.
The flavor was okay, but the texture was too soggy for me. There was more batter than I wanted, so this wasn’t the standout of the meal.
Beef-tartare bibimbap
We chose the raw-beef option with an egg yolk and a mix of vegetables. The portion felt manageable next to that giant pancake, and I added the sauce a little at a time.
The vegetables were crunchy and refreshing, and the whole dish felt light and easy to eat. The sesame-oil flavor came through, while the beef blended nicely with the vegetables. It was a simple combination that really worked for me.
How much was it?
We ordered army soup, a seafood pancake and beef-tartare bibimbap. I didn’t share confirmed prices in this review, so check the current menu before visiting.
What would I order again?
The beef-tartare bibimbap would be my first pick, and I’d get the army soup when I wanted something hearty. I’d skip the seafood pancake next time because I prefer a crisper texture with less batter.
