Buffetopia Humble: Snow Crab, Oysters & My Favorite Fried Shrimp

By · My firsthand restaurant visit

I was overdue for a buffet when I found Buffetopia in Humble. The selection was huge, and at $20.99 during my visit, I was excited to see how the food tasted. There were some real winners here—especially the butterfly shrimp, snow crab and salmon—and a couple of things I’d skip.

What I ate

Lo mein, chicken and vegetables

I started with lo mein, rice, chicken, mushrooms and green beans. The noodles were seasoned nicely and still had a good bite. I liked the flavor of the sesame chicken, and even the mushrooms had good flavor. My first plate was a satisfying start.

The fried-food plate

The butterfly shrimp was my favorite of the fried foods. The batter was light and fluffy, and the shrimp tasted buttery without a fishy flavor. I seriously considered going back for a whole plate of them.

I also tried chicken wings, calamari and frog legs. One wing was juicy with a little ginger flavor, while another piece of chicken was drier. The calamari was softer than I wanted and needed lemon. The butterfly shrimp was the one I’d make room for again.

Snow crab and oysters

I really enjoyed the snow crab for a buffet. The legs were on the smaller side, but the meat tasted good and wasn’t too salty. I went back for more.

I mixed cocktail sauce, chili oil, lemon and Tabasco for the oysters. The buffet was busy, and the oysters disappeared quickly between refills. Toward the end of our meal, a new batch came out looking much plumper than the earlier ones.

Salmon sashimi and sushi

The salmon was a win: soft, buttery and without a fishy taste. I went back for more of that, too. The California roll didn’t work as well for me because the rice was too mushy.

Crawfish and hot-and-sour soup

The crawfish was my biggest miss. The texture and taste reminded me strongly of frozen crawfish, and I wouldn’t get it again. The hot-and-sour soup was much better for me. I liked the bamboo shoots and mushrooms, and a little soy sauce brought it closer to how I like it.

How much was it?

  • Buffet price featured during my March 2025 visit: $20.99 per person

That is the buffet price, not a confirmed total including drinks, tax or tip. Prices and seafood selections can change, so check before visiting.

What would I order again?

I’d head for the butterfly shrimp, snow crab and salmon sashimi. Those made this buffet feel like a really good value to me. I’d skip the crawfish and California roll and save that room for my favorites.
