Yama Kitchen Humble Review: Korean BBQ, Hot Pot & a Buffet in One Meal

By · My firsthand restaurant visit

Yama Kitchen wasn’t our original plan. We had hoped to get Peking duck elsewhere, but an hour-long wait sent us looking for another option. My sister found Yama, and this change of plans turned into a meal I would happily repeat.

From my video published January 11, 2026.

My quick take

The variety exceeded my expectations, and I’d return when I’m in the area. The flavorful tom yum broth with udon stood out most. I also enjoyed trying grilled meats, seafood and the buffet in one meal.

What I tried at Yama Kitchen

Tom yum hot pot and udon

The broth didn’t taste exactly like the tom yum I’m used to, but I loved it. It had a lemongrass flavor, sourness, spice and so much flavor that I drank almost all of it. The udon soaked up the broth beautifully.

I tried thinly sliced meat in the pot, too. It didn’t beat my favorite cut at my most favorite hot pot restaurant Shabu Zone, but it was still good. There was so much on the table that keeping up with everything felt a little overwhelming!

Beef tongue and spicy octopus

We had New York strip and beef tongue for the grill. I liked the tongue’s texture and grilled flavor, though I thought it could use some salt. The spicy octopus also had a texture I enjoyed.

Snow crab and buffet extras

Getting the crab meat out took some work. The piece I tried was a little salty but not bad. I also explored the sushi and seafood bar. For an all-you-can-eat buffet, I thought the salmon was really good.

Yama Kitchen prices from my visit

These were the prices shown during my visit:

  • Lunch: $19.99 per person.
  • Dinner: $30.99 per person.
  • Adding both BBQ and hot pot: $5 more per person.
  • Dinner with both: $35.99 per person, rounded to $36 in my video title.

These prices are from my January 2026 video. Confirm current prices, inclusions and availability before going.

What would I get again?

The flavorful tom yum hot pot broth with udon would be high on my list, along with more grilled meats and seafood. The variety exceeded my expectations. I said I would definitely return when I’m in the area—and would come often if I lived closer.
