Boo’s Burger Houston Review: The OG Burger, Fries & Our $40.32 Meal

By · My firsthand restaurant visit

I love a good smash burger, so I had to try Boo’s Burger on Navigation Boulevard. I’d heard people say it could be one of Houston’s best, but I haven’t tried every burger in town. I wanted to see how this one tasted for myself—and that first bite was pretty darn good.

What I ordered

Thomas and I each got an OG burger, fries and a drink. He also added a side of sauce. I had a Mexican Coke with mine, and we ate outside.

The OG burger

This was a juicy, messy burger in the best way. The patty had plenty of seasoning and a nice char on the outside, with that crunchy, salty edge I enjoy. The bun was buttery, toasted and super fluffy, and the toppings worked well together.

It was also a pretty big burger. My one change for next time would be to order it without tomatoes. I tried it the way it came, but I don’t usually like tomatoes in my burgers, and I felt they made everything soggy faster. With all those juices, this is a burger I’d eat while it’s fresh.

The fries

Thomas said they were good enough without ketchup, which got my attention because I usually eat fries with ketchup. They had a crisp, crunchy outside and a fluffy middle. The texture reminded me of the fries at Trill Burgers. Once I started eating them, I didn’t want to stop.

Mexican Coke

I love a Mexican Coke, but between the burger, fries and the heat outside, I got full quickly. Thomas and I each ordered our own fries and drink, and I realized we could have shared.

How much was it?

Our total was $40.32 for the two of us: two OG burgers, two orders of fries, two drinks and an extra side of sauce. That’s the total I stated in the video, not an item-by-item menu calculation.

I thought the burger was a little pricey. Sharing fries is something I’d consider next time because I didn’t need a whole order to myself.

This was our visit-time total. Current menu prices may differ.

What would I order again?

I’d get the OG burger again, with no tomatoes, and definitely have some fries. If I’m coming with someone, I’d consider sharing the fries. The charred patty and fluffy toasted bun were the highlights for me.
